Cardinal Custom Finishes was founded on the belief that every home deserves to feel personal. What started as a simple love for craftsmanship has grown into a business rooted in pride, precision, and care.
Owner and craftsman Matt Wrenn began his career installing windows before discovering a passion for detailed trim work. After moving to San Antonio, he spent years honing his craft on high end, custom projects such as home libraries, movie theaters, built-ins, and accent walls. He realized his true calling was in the small details that bring a space to life.
When Matt returned home to North Carolina, he started Cardinal Custom Finishes to do things differently, to prioritize quality over speed, collaboration over guesswork, and to create a better experience for homeowners.

When he’s not creating custom accent walls, you’ll find him outdoors playing disc golf, cheering at NASCAR races with his girlfriend, attending concerts of all kinds, or spending time with their two dogs. He’s the kind of guy who gets along with everyone, loyal, kind, and always up for good conversation!
